Hunter and Windham are the main mountains of mid-upstate NY. They're both about 2 1/2 hours out of NYC. I like Windham more, though, because it has more challenging runs, and unlike Hunter it doesn't have a problem with all the snow getting blown off one side of the mountain so only ice is left...

★★★★

What are you talking about? If you want challenging runs you gotta hit up hunter west.

And Hunter can build decent parks as well..

Hunter west is serviceable once every 3-4 years. Otherwise it's a blown off sheet of ice. Been at hunter several times a year since 2003 when I started going with my roommate.

I definitely don't see anything wrong with Windham's parks. Maybe it's better this season. Lots of rails, and the crew actually made knuckled hits, not ski jumps.

I dunno, you must have not been at Hunter west on a real powder day. There was SO much snow on Annapurna. I agree it can be really icey sometimes, and I hate it when the Skiiers have it all bumped up with moguls. In my opinion Windham's trail Wedel is the only trail comparable to Hunter's west side. And as far as the parks, Windham's fun boxes seem like the HDPE is all warped. I remember last year one night they had a box with a sheet of ice for a run in, and another sheet of ice for the landing. But, one thing I do love about Windham is the Night riding.. That makes up for a lot of its other shortcomings. But thats just my opinion. haha.
