Is it just me or has Lib Tech just ripped off Never Summer's Rocker & Camber (R.C. Technology) for the new C2??????

★★★

i'm over it. back to camber!

This is too funny. There's some seriously stupid statements in here. No one can claim they invented camber, reverse camber, etc. etc. Do you know how many people were inventing things in their garage.

Mervin claims they invented snowboarding
Burton claims they invented snowboarding
Sherman Poppens claims he invented snowboarding
Jeremy Jones went to some 3rd world country where they were riding down the hills on planks of wood for 300 years

So many people buy into the hype.

Oh and for those that want to know about the C2 story this is how it went down.

Never summer asked me if they needed a reverse camber/ rockered board since k2 and mervin were killing it. I said you'd be stupid if you didn't do it. They said we'll have a designers meeting and we want you to come down to the factory. 2 weeks later I have a prototype in my hand that was R.C. technology and Vario power grip. The thing was like having lightening strike it.

Meanwhile over in the unibomber shack behind the mervin factory Mike Olson is playing with himself out there when a bright idea hits him about C2. He takes it to the main designers and they tell him NO! He pushes it on them again and again they keep shooting him down.

A few months later an article pops out in the NY times about all the changes in camber for snowboarding. Never summer is the top dog in this piece. Mike Olson takes the article in and throws it at the lead designers. Voila C2 is now made and Mervin is jumping behind it 110%. Claiming that it has better benefits than traditional banana. This is a slap in their face as they've bragged for so long on how banana is the innovator, but if this is true they why are they copying R.C technology basically?

After SIA snowpress gives Mervin an award for best innovation even though the credit clearly goes to Never Summer.

There you have it in a nut shell. Once again no one can actually claim it. Now shut up and go ride whatever makes you happy.

this is pretty funny, you are taking credit for Ns' RC? maybe they should hire you instead of just letting you test?

I'm with hoon, reverse camber is fun, but personally I've been feeling just rocking regular camber or zero camber this coming season. The K2 eco-pop with zero camber is actually super fun, so that might be the weapon of choice for next year.

I think all these back and forth discussions about the whole reverse camber I invented this that, blah blah blah is hilarious. Seriously, who really cares. Just ride the damn thing.

Too much over hype. Just let it go. Unless you own the company and are personally getting hit from whatever this company or that company is doing, seriously, does it really matter?

It's just technology, just get out and ride it and have fun.

My boards look SIC!!! That's all that matters. Gurls look at my boards and just start peeling their clothing off. My wife gets a little jealous sometimes, but then I just remind her that she did the same thing when she first saw them.

Before this turns into another "Angry Vs. the world" flame out, He just said they asked him his opinion. He did not say he came up with the idea etc etc. and Who knows, maybe he did play a major role in the development. Were you so involved that you can say he didn't? Maybe I'm actually Pete Saari(I'm not, but you couldn't have said that definitively until I just told you, or maybe now I'm just throwing you off the sent???) Never Summer is still a relatively small manufacturer, I would guess that they still have the ability to put a lot of stock into what the people testing their stuff say, and bring them into meetings with designers and what not.

why people care about such things.. stop taking stuff serious and go out and shred...........

Haha. Phatman, that first part of your comment is absolutely hilarious.

I wouldn't doubt he contributed some important part. I know how involved angrysb is with NS, and I'm sure companies like that truly value having good input from good riders that are committed to helping them make good product.

By the way, angrysb, when I was at some show, I was talking to someone from your neck of the woods and apparently they knew who you were, and they mentioned how you kill it. Just thought I might give your ego a boost that it totally doesn't need :)

Holden, it's just people expressing their opinions about the most trivial of things. Isn't that why posting comments was even invented?

The only thing I kill is my knees and lower back. I got those skills on lock down.

I'm not saying I invented it that credit goes entirely to Tim Canaday. That guy is the mad scientist behind it. All I did was say, " You'd be stupid if you didn't do one". Hell I thought they were going to do a 3 stage rocker like K2 instead they came out with something entirely different. Lightening strike with them now Mervin has it. Funny thing this world.

I think it is well said that although Mervin won the SIA award this year, pretty much everyone knows Never Summer created it in the modern sense.

All I know is that my Evo-R is meeting my expectations and beyond.

And talking about ripping off, Burton ripped off EVERYBODY, but they have a HUGE line of good boards out now that keeps the prices down a bit.

I'm actually curious to see what the new signal boards are like.
